On a set with stunts and on a site with work at height, an ambulance crew is not a luxury but a condition of the insurance policy and of site access. Producers know this from insurers’ requirements, site managers from occupational safety rules. The crew stands by for the whole shift and leaves last.

What to do right now

Assess the risk
Stunts, stunt performers, pyrotechnics, work at height, heavy machinery, confined spaces — an ICU crew. Studio filming and finishing work — a standard crew.
Check the client’s requirements
Insurers covering film production and large general contractors specify the composition of medical cover. Send us the wording and we will meet it.
Contract by shift or by period
Filming days follow the shooting schedule; construction sites take cover for the period of hazardous work or permanently. Minimum four hours, charged hourly.
Prepare the site
A parking place with a clear exit, radio contact with the set, and the nearest profile hospital identified in advance.
Documents
Contract, licence, schedule, incident log, acceptance acts — for the client, the insurer and the labour inspectorate.

Construction and installation work at height, in excavations or with heavy machinery
Sites with slow access for city ambulances: closed territories, industrial zones
Crowd scenes, filming with children, night shifts

What not to do

Do not replace a crew with a first-aid kit and a "person responsible for medicine" on hazardous work
Do not book for half a shift — injuries happen in the last hour
Do not forget night shifts: the rate is the same but the schedule must be agreed in advance
Do not save on an ICU crew where falls from height and electrical injuries are possible

An ambulance with a crew on site for the whole period: defibrillator, medical kit, stretchers, splints
Care for injuries, burns, electrical injuries, fainting and allergic reactions
Transport of a casualty to a trauma centre; a second vehicle on request
Incident log, contract, invoice, act and licence copies

How much does standby on a film set cost in Moscow?

Standard crew 4,000 ₽ per hour, ICU crew 6,000 ₽, minimum four hours; several vehicles for eight hours each — a 10 % discount. A 12-hour shooting day is 48,000 or 72,000 ₽. Beyond the MKAD — 200 ₽ per kilometre both ways.

Is a crew required on a construction site by law?

There is no direct legal requirement for an ambulance on site, but the employer must provide first aid and transport to a medical organisation; for hazardous work, general contractors and insurers require crew standby.

Can you cover a long period?

Yes — a month or longer, on a shift schedule, with a permanent crew who know the site.
